Japanese Prints Doodle Art Activity

Japanese woodblock printing is said to have come to Japan from China as early as the 8^th century, but became popularized during the Edo period in Japan (1603-1868). Woodblock printing was used to make books before the invention of the movable type and was distinct in Japan for the use of water-based (rather than oil-based) inks. The most famous artist to make Japanese prints is Hokusai.
